The Joy of Riding and Training

Welcome to our Horse Training site. Annalee and I (Alan) will be posting information, training and tips regularly to help you have more fun with a better trained horse. Now that does not mean you can’t have fun with a untrained horse because some of my most satisfaction has come from training totally untrained horses. Although, I have wanted to just ride and when I am on a horse that respects me and is trained it usually is a lot more fun than riding a horse you always have to worry about what it is going to do next.

To learn more about Annalee and myself please click on the About Us tab and you will learn about our lives with our horses.

Annalee has been showing horses for years. I have been the “tack boy” and help out with everything before, during and after the show. She has been very successful over the years and has a room full of ribbons and trophies. Together we ride in the mountains and participate in cattle sorting and penning competitions. This year I decided to get back into the show ring. The last time I officially showed a horse I was 11 years old.

So I got ready. Practiced with one of our horses, Montana. As Annalee taught both of us flying lead changes, proper way to ride in Western Pleasure, and the little tips to help win; Montana and I both learned a lot. We had fun at the show. I even came home with a blue ribbon in Western Horsemanship. What I really learned was the show was another way for me to have fun with my horse. There are lots of ways and I encourage you to take advantage as many as you can. Now I would rather be riding in the mountains or chasing cattle, but this helped both my horse and me learn some new things. Look for different ways to use your horse, it is fun for you and give your horse something new to do.
